For almost 10 years I have traveled to Morocco at least once a year. Marrakech is always on the program. This time I took my daughter Stella along again. She is as crazy about Marrakech as I am, so that works out well. I want to share my travel itch with her and show her how beautiful the world is, and how it can be different.
She likes to walk with me through the many streets, just from here to there, to chat occasionally, but mainly to watch how everything goes. In the hustle and bustle, we also have to shake off a pushy seller sometimes, and the exhaust fumes from the many scooters in the narrow alleys are sometimes a real torment.
Fortunately, there are also the delicious smells of the spice stalls or the tajines in the many restaurants. In recent years, more tourists have arrived, which is obviously fantastic for the commerce there, but it makes it harder to discover the real Marrakech.
Day 1: Derb Dabachi
Near our lovely Riad Irhalne is an alley with woodworkers and basket sellers. There we already did our shopping for the upcoming homesale. Colorful baskets, little mirrors, and also a small table for ourselves.

Day 2: Carpet store
Buying carpets for the home sale was the purpose of this trip. Aissam took us to the first location and there we selected a first batch of 10 carpets. Since we were still not completely satisfied, we also made an appointment for the next day in another store.

Day 3: cooking workshop at Souk Cuisine
A Dutch lady who has lived in Marrakech for almost 20 years organizes nice cooking workshops there. First grocery shopping and then working together with a number of Moroccan women. One of the cooks spoke Dutch and put the diligent Stella to work. We made various tajines, salads, briouates, and pastries. A very nice experience in a beautiful old riad.
Then off again to our next appointment with Aissam. A riad/storage place packed with thousands of carpets! There we selected another 11.
